Board of Directors

Ed Stowe, Treasurer

Ed’s interest in helping others was really sharpened by being involved in the Fresh Air Program for 25 years or so.  As part of that program, Ed’s family had many different guests from New York City stay with them, with mostly very positive relationships.  They had the same visitors for many years and got to know a little about the life in NYC and how difficult it can be.  Ed is retired and spends many hours volunteering in the community.

Marty Philbrick, Secretary

Marty Philbrick worked as a public school teacher with children ranging from nursery school age through eighth grade. Her experience working with the Title I Federal Program, supporting families with children in grades one through six, provided the most insight into the issues faced by people living in a poverty situation.

Charles Leeuw

Charles had studied psychology in college and has been interested in social change as regards people in poverty since that time. He spent a 33 year career as a Flight Instructor and an International Captain for a major airline making risk management decisions and budgeting fuel to assure a safe outcome to every flight.  On long (13 hour) international flights he presided over 400 passengers and a crew of 20 and resolved many interpersonal conflict situations which required sensitivity, resource management, judgment and decision making.

Dr. Steven Lewis

Worked with families in poverty from 1972-1977, as a Head Start teacher and Center director.  Graduate school training led to a doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Psy.D.), with a specialization in child and adolescent psychology.  Private practice in clinical psychology since 1982, providing services to children, adults and families.
